#ChangeTheChannel campaign

The One Woman Project wants to increase engagement with high school students to discuss the impact of rigid gender stereotypes perpetuated by popular media. Our #ChangeTheChannel campaign was created to give teens the tools and confidence to question problematic behaviour in pop culture and their own lives.

Launched as a lead-up to International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Nov 25), the success of the workshops has seen the creation of the One Woman Podcast.

The Media Release raises the importance of the #CTC campaign and the power of critiquing media representation of relationships, gender and sexuality. The Engagement and Outreach team plan to continue this campaign with further resources in 2022.

WILL YOU JOIN US TO END COVID FOR ALL?

Today is World Humanitarian Day, and our world is facing a humanitarian crisis of epic proportions: the COVID-19 pandemic. As we’ve seen in Australia, it has never been more important to tackle COVID-19 together.

While Australia has one of the world’s best healthcare systems (despite the entrenched discrimination that many of us - womxn, trans and non-binary folk included - experience), many of our neighbours around the world are ill-equipped for a pandemic. Across the world, those most vulnerable to COVID-19 have the least resources to manage - largely due to impacts of colonisation, imperialism and natural resource depletion from capitalism.

#BlackLivesMatter

At the One Woman Project, we have been deeply heartbroken over George Floyd’s untimely death at the hands of Minnesota law enforcement. We condemn the actions of the Minnesota Police Department and support the efforts of those protesting to bring accountability to law enforcement in the United States. We would also like to condemn the actions of those police officers who caused the deaths of Tony McDade, Regis Korchinski-Paquet and David McAtee, who have died in this past week alone, as well as the murder of Breonna Taylor in March of this year.

We believe in justice for George Floyd, and justice for all black folk whose lives have been cut short due to police brutality. We extend our hand in solidarity and support to the Black community in the United States, and we want you to know that we stand with you today and every day.

A Message from our National Director on COVID-19

Here at the One Woman Project, we have been working hard to ensure that our team, our supporters and our feminist community are as supported, safe and secure as they can be, during the COVID-19 crisis and pandemic.

Whilst the vast majority of our day-to-day operations occur remotely online by our phenomenal team members, we do deliver large-scale educational programs and events, which will be impacted by the recommendations of self-isolation and social distancing made by our health professionals.
