Episode 1 - Change the Channel: Toxic Masculinity in Netflix’s Ginny & Georgia

One Woman Podcast host, Jeannine Taleyratne sits down with Sobur Dhieu, host of Girl Chat Live to discuss Toxic Masculinity.

This podcast is an extension of the #ChangeTheChannel Campaign and workshop that focused on media representation of relationships, gender, and sexuality.

Jeannine and Sobur use examples from Netflix's Ginny and Georgia, and adopt an intersectional approach to critique popular media representations of masculinity.

A quote from episode 1:

“Expressing your feelings and showing respect is shown as less masculine in hetero relationships.

This in turn fetishises the idea of disrespecting women and being "tough" as the norm for how men should behave in heterosexual relationships.”
